Poppy Ridge sits in the rolling hills of Livermore Valley, a place better known for vineyards than fairways, which makes the golf feel like a pleasant surprise every time you step onto the tee. The course is a windswept, wide-open test that blends linksy movement with California heat and panoramic views in every direction.
The NCGA built Poppy Ridge with the same DNA as its sister course, Poppy Hills. It is strategic, fast, and honest. Everything is right in front of you, yet no shot is a total free pass. With generous landing areas, sloping greens, and a steady breeze that likes to make its presence known, this is golf that rewards commitment and patience.

THE HISTORY
Poppy Ridge opened in 1996, designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. as a tribute to classic links architecture. The routing features three distinct nines shaped by natural elevation changes and firm, rumpled ground. Expect approachable tee shots followed by thoughtful second shots and greens that demand attention from the moment your ball lands.

No. RGC Classics are built for all skill levels. We do cap playing handicaps at 18 for men and 28 for women to keep the competition fair.
Yes. We’ll pair you with another RGC Member. Most friendships start on the first tee anyway.
Your round of golf, RGC gifts, entry into contests, and the full-day Classic experience. Everything that is outlined in the Event Details section.
Definitely. Just be mindful of other players and the pace of play. We’ll also have an event photographer sharing photos after the round.

Caddies depend on the course and are optional. They are not included in the ticket price.
